What is a Twilight chorus?

A twilight chorus, or dusk chorus, refers to the acoustic activity of animals during the evening. Wind reduces the distance a chorus can travel, so it is hypothesized species choose to call at dawn and dusk because wind is light and their acoustic signals can be transmitted for longer distances.

Did you know that frog choruses help certain birds species orient and stay on course while they migrate during the night? Nocturnal migratory birds can estimate their altitude, wind velocity, and typology of the land, all by how they hear the frog choruses below.
